this weeks tip is the:

the [from] command.

when you have an object that you'd like to place a certain distance from another object try using the "from" command, instead of wasting time with "offsets". this command works great with doors, since, typically, you need them 3 inches from the wall. select the "move" function, and then select the door you'd like to move. hit enter. then select the door in the side of the frame you'd like a certain distance from the wall. after you have made you selection, hold down the shift key and "right" click. a menu should appear.

under the menu choose "from". then select the object you'd like the door to be "from". type in the required distance (in this case three inches) and move your crosshairs in the direction desired. hit enter. the door should now be in the desired location. this command will work for any object, not just doors, so please try it out!.
