O Snap!

this week's [tip of the week] is brought to you by:

"Blades of Glory", Kick some Ice.

In 2002, two rival Olympic ice skaters were stripped of their gold medals and permanently banned from men's single competition. Presently, however, they've found a loophole that will allow them to qualify as a pairs team.

Opening everywhere march 30th!!!

this weeks tip is:

dealing with the osnap tab.

if you're like me, you have your OSNAP button on most of the time, however, at certain times, while drawing and line or moving an object, the object will want to snap to objects, you'd rather not have them snap to.

to turn OSNAP on and off, simply hit the "F3" key.

or to just temporarily override the "OSNAP" without turning it on or off, simply push and hold "Shift, A", it takes a bit to engage, but i believe this is more beneficial then turning it on and off. for you left handers, hold down "Shift, + " instead.

this weeks tip is:

different ways to deal with the ortho tab.

if you're like me, most of the time, you have the ortho tab checked. however, when dealing with notes and leaders, when one needs to switch between keeping items in line, and placing the arrows where ever you want, ortho can be a pain. one way to deal with this without clicking the ortho tab button on the screen, is to hit F8 on your keyboard. the problem with F8, is that is switches it completely.

so if you want ortho off for just one specific command, continue with the command as normal, such as copy or move, but with ortho restricts you, simply hold down the "shift" key. this will keep ortho, shut off, while you complete your command. Letting go of "shift" will restore ortho.

From Here, To Where?

this week's [tip of the week] is brought to you by:

"Kashi" Organic Promise - experience pure delight, true taste, true nourishment, true to nature.

this weeks tip is the:

the [from] command.

when you have an object that you'd like to place a certain distance from another object try using the "from" command, instead of wasting time with "offsets"
. this command works great with doors, since, typically, you need them 3 inches from the wall. select the "move" function, and then select the door you'd like to move. hit enter. then select the door in the side of the frame you'd like a certain distance from the wall. after you have made you selection, hold down the shift key and "right" click. a menu should appear.

under the menu choose "from". then select the object you'd like the door to be "from". type in the required distance (in this case three inches) and move your crosshairs in the direction desired. hit enter. the door should now be in the desired location. this command will work for any object, not just doors, so please try it out!.
